This release presents two originals Duke Ellington LPs in their entireties: Will Big Bands Ever Come Back? (Reprise Records RS-6168) and Recollections Of The Big Band Era (Atlantic SD-1665). Although they were issued by tow different labels, both were recorded during the same sessions by Reprise Records and are a compendium of old big band songs, most of which Ellington had never previously recorded and would never record again. This is the first time both albums appear together in their complete form on a single CD.
