Recorded: Live, 27 or 28 March 1982; Large Hall of the Leningrad Philharmonic, Leningrad.
Notes in English by James Murray (2011).
Licensed from: the notes in the back cover of the booklet (see image) says: "Licensed from Leningrad Philharmonic via A-Tempo, Prague".
This recording is the last one by Mravinsky of this symphony that he had himself premièred with the same Orchestra in 1947 and was dedicated to him by the composer.
This recording was first released by Philips (Ref: 422 442-2), now unavailable; but apparently it was produced with an incorrect pitch. A Russian version released from Russian Disc (Ref: 10-917) was published at the supposed correct pitch.
This release claims that remastering work by Paul Arden-Taylor ("after advice on pitch correction by Mark Roberts") definitely fixes the famous pitch (Philips’ remastering was a semitone sharp). See images.
